Hummingbirds Class
The Hummingbird Room is a certified New Mexico Mixed PreK classroom for children ages 3-5 with a capacity of 16 children.
A message from Teddy Room Lead Teacher, Sandra Parra:
“Just like real hummingbirds, we are a very active classroom. Engaging with the children at their individual stage of development provides many opportunities to encourage creativity and curiosity There are lots of hands-on activities with real life materials like snails and mud that can get pretty messy, but makes it more fun!”
The New Mexico PreK Program is a voluntary program created by the Pre-Kindergarten Act of 2005 and jointly administered by the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department and the Public Education Department. The objective of PreK is to ensure that every child in New Mexico has the opportunity to attend a high quality early childhood education program before entering kindergarten.
The students and their four teachers engage in meaningful learning activities, both indoors and outdoors. While the children view these activities as play, the teachers are preparing them with the skills they need for success when they move to kindergarten.
